11For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.12Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.13You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
God, through Jeremiah, is sending a message of hope for His good, long-term plan:
Butterfly Earrings- A Promise of a Future (v. 11):God assures us that despite our current circumstances, He has a plan! His plans are for our "welfare" (or "good," "shalom" in Hebrew, meaning well-being, peace, prosperity in a holistic sense), not for "harm" (or "disaster"). He promises us a "future and a hope." This may not be a promise of immediate relief, but a reassurance of God's larger design, and that ultimately, restoration is always coming. Consider your current circumstances a cocoon, but a metamorphosis of beauty is coming!
Heart Earrings- A Call to Seek God (v. 12-13):God tells us that during challenging times and difficulty, He has given us the way through: "call on me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you." Furthermore, "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." This emphasizes that our return and restoration are linked to His presence in our lives and in our hearts as we earnestly seek Him.
Think on these truths for just a moment: He loves YOUR presence! Seek Him "with all your heart" because He loves being withyou! He "always hears you", He always has "a good plan for your future", no matter what lies in the past or in your way currently, He makes all things NEW (butterfly), and His love for you will never fail!
