More about the white stone in Revelations 2:17
The Greek word used here is 'Leukos'- "brilliant from whiteness, (dazzling) white”. It is possible that this stone shines brightly from within ie a glowing stone. Jewish tradition has held that precious stones also fell from heaven with the manna! The shining white stone is to be prized as a victor’s reward! And every believer is a living stone! (See 1 Peter 2:5 below).
1Peter 2:4-5 The Living Stone and a Chosen People
4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
***Peter goes on to describe the function of the living stones: to “declare the praises” of Him who called us out of the darkness of sin into the light of life and glory (1Peter 2:9). This is the “job description” of a living stone: a speaker of praise, a declarer of truth and love and light. The spiritual house God is building is designed for His glory, and we, the living stones, glorify the Lord in all we do (1Corinthians 10:31).
