Psalm 139
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—

When I shared my idea for this design with a dear friend, who is also my spiritual mother, she shared a personal story. She shared that many years ago, when she read Psalm 139 for the first time, it shifted something inside her. Each verse penetrated her heart with the truth that she was created, molded by God, and incredibly valued by Him. The verses gave her a visual of herself being formed with such tender care and thoughtfulness, like something extremely precious and valuable. A treasure. His. Created in the secret place, fearfully and wonderfully made, like a precious pearl.
She was so incredibly impacted by this life-changing shift in how she viewed herself that the verses began to reform her identity. She began to consider the truth that she is never alone, and never was; His thoughts of her were innumerable! Then, she came up with a creative idea! She collected pretty jars and then filled them with sand.
She carefully placed them around her house and in each room to remind her that God is always thinking of her, and that she really mattered to him. She was applying the word of God to her life like a healing salve. We know that God's word is alive and active, sharper than a double edge sword, penetrating to divide soul and spirit, exposing the very thoughts of the heart, to reform us.
I hope this new design, (in the making for many years as I searched for the perfect representation of sand), penetrates your heart, and the deepest part of your nature to fill you with God's truth and the peace that you are thought of more than you could ever imagine and to give you an appreciation for the intricate and beautiful masterpiece that is your life.
